This past weekend, Shane had an AILA (American Immigration Law Association, I think) conference to attend for work so Charlotte and I decided to tag along with them! Considering that we just had to pay for my plane ticket (Charlotte flies free cuz she's so cute, haha, jk) and incidental expenses, it was a pretty cheap vacation. The only bummer was that Shane had to attend the conference during the days - the nerve! The hotel was the Omni and it was very nice - wanted to steal their robes:)!
So Thursday and Friday during the day, Charlotte and I hung out at the hotel and walked around the Gaslamp Quarter near the harbor. It's a very pedestrian-friendly city and Charlotte behaved herself very nicely!
Thursday night we all went on a free dinner cruise sponsored by an immigration software company that Shane's organization uses. Quite fun, although I didn't venture outside because it was alot colder weather than I expected and Charlotte decided to stay up and party. I also was quite enjoying the food since I have recently been released of dietary restrictions (might write a blog posting about that later at some point).
Friday night we went out to eat with Shane's former law professor, Lauris Wren. She quite enjoyed meeting Charlotte who would not keep still all throughout dinner (as you can see from the blur that is Charlotte).
Saturday Shane got out earlier and we had lunch at Seaport Village, a collection of shops and restaurants alongside the harbor. It was beautiful weather (still somewhat cool to explain Charlotte's getup in the pictures) and fun to walk around there. I got a San Diego Christmas ornament to commemorate the trip - I like doing that on vacations.
We also went to Balboa Park and walked around the gardens there. We skipped the zoo, since it was $40 per person (yikes) and our realtor said that the Omaha zoo was just as nice. Not sure how true that is, since she's a native Nebraskan, but it was another good reason to skip it:).
On a side note, she was very interested in her hat straps during our visit to the park as you will see in this video:).
That night we went to a Mexican restaurant - yummy - and then crashed at the hotel and watched HGTV. All in all, a great vacation!

Charlotte's first food - pears!
Because of Charlotte's allergies, the pediatrician recommended waiting on giving her food until after the 6 month check-up. So she's a little late starting but she's a good eater, so hopefully she'll like alot of foods. Here's pics of her first taste of pears...
So as you can see, it wasn't love at first taste. Maybe tomorrow she'll warm up to them more!
